PM Modi Clears Suspense Over His Social Media Announcement, To Give Away Accounts To Inspiring Women On Women’s Day

After a day of speculation over his tweet declaring to give up his social media accounts, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on Tuesday (3 March) disclosed that he was going to handover the accounts to women “whose life and work inspire us” to mark the coming Women’s Day (8 March), reported The Indian Express.

Again taking to Twitter, the PM informed about his plans while urging such women or those who know any such woman to share their stories with hashtag #SheInspiresUs.

“This Women's Day, I will give away my social media accounts to women whose life & work inspire us. This will help them ignite motivation in millions,” he wrote.

He further added that select entries will get a chance to run his social media accounts and share their thoughts and ideas with the world.

Earlier on Monday, the PM had shocked millions of his followers by announcing that he was thinking of giving up his social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

PM Modi is one of the most followed political leaders on Facebook and Instagram with 44 million individuals following his page and 35.2 million individuals following him on the photo sharing platform respectively.

Further, on YouTube, PM Modi's official account is subscribed by 4.5 million individuals. On Twitter too, PM Modi is followed by 53.3 million followers.
