Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (5 July) met President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan to brief him about issues of national and international importance.

This meeting with the President - who is also the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, comes on the heels of Prime Minister Modi's surprise visit to Ladakh's Nimmoo brigade headquarters.
Prime Minister Modi visited Nimmooon Friday (5 July) to take stock of the ongoing Line of Actual Control (LAC) standoff with China and addressed the soldiers posted there. Prime Minister Modi also performed the Sindhu Darshan Puja at the banks of the Sindu river in Ladakh.
It was recently reported that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is fully prepared for operations and has been carrying out air exercises at forward bases near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
The IAF has been using its premier jets like Sukhoi Su-30 MKI, MiG-29s and combat helicopters like Apaches to carry out regular air sorties near the LAC.
