As Goa gears for the State Assembly elections in 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s president JP Nadda yesterday (25 July) announced that the incumbent Chief Minister (CM) Pramod Sawant is going to be the party's face for the elections and that there is no need to think about any other name, reports Economic Times.
Lauding CM Sawant's work and leadership, Nadda emphasised that Goa had witnessed all-around development under his tenure.
In Goa on a two-day visit which commenced on Saturday, Nadda said that during his stay he held detailed discussions with Cabinet ministers, MLAs, MPs, and party functionaries at different levels.
Nadda said, "As far as the party is concerned, I am very optimistic because I have had an eye on the Goa unit of BJP. Goa BJP has taken a big leap in the past 4.5 years as far as the working of BJP is concerned."
Nadda further added, "During my interactions with ministers and MLAs, I found that the MLAs are very optimistic and filled with confidence. A huge number of leaders have joined BJP from Congress. I held detailed discussions with them. They have praised BJP's working that makes me more optimistic."

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
