In a slip during the class 8 annual exams for government schools in Punjab, the students at some centres received the wrong question paper for the exam held on 14 March, reports Indian Express.
Students were handed over Punjabi question papers instead of social studies papers. The incident happened in six examination centres in Ludhiana district and also in some centres in Faridkot district.
As students pointed out the mistake, Punjabi question papers were collected, and the social studies questions were written on the blackboard due to lack of sufficient question papers.
In some centres, teachers reportedly got question papers on mail or through WhatsApp and got them printed and photocopied.
The goof-up happened after packets carrying papers were given the wrong label on envelopes and packets carrying Punjabi papers were labelled as social studies, Inderjit Singh, director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
The mistake was that of the vendor who packed the papers and supplied to schools and not of the duty staff, he added.
“We will blacklist the vendor. The new paper will be set for Punjabi exam scheduled on 19 March as it was leaked on 14 March.”
