Popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unknown assailants in Punjab today. This act raises further questions against the governance of the newly elected Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab after the attack in Mohali.
Moose Wala had contested the recent assembly elections in Punjab from the Mansa seat. Hailing from a village in the same district, the singer’s inculcation within the Congress party was amongst much fanfare. However, the singer lost his seat to AAP’s Dr Vijay Singla by a margin of over 60,000 votes.
Moose Wala was also in the news for his controversial remarks during the farmer protests.
He was shot in the Jawaharke village in the Mansa district and was then rushed to the civil hospital. Early reports state that he was brought dead.
Moose Wala, aged 28, was among the 424 people who lost their security cover after a notification from the Punjab government merely a day ago. The singer was travelling in his car when the attack took place.
