The Indian Railways has decided to suspend ace wrestler and two-time Olympics medallist Sushil Kumar following his arrest by the Delhi Police in relation to the murder of a younger 23-years-old wrestler at Delhi’s iconic Chhatrasal Stadium on bygone 4 May, reports Economic Times.
Kumar was serving in Northern Railways at the rank of senior commercial manager and was posted as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Chhatrasal Stadium for the development of the sport of wrestling at the school level.
The Railway Board received a report on the case against Kumar from the Delhi Government yesterday (23 May) and is now expected to issue an official order suspending him from service in a couple of days.
Kumar was arrested yesterday by Delhi Police in the national capital’s Mundka area after being on the run for over a fortnight. Along with him, the police had also arrested his associate Ajay who is also co-accused.
Following his arrest, he was presented before a court in Delhi which sent him on six days of custody with the police for further interrogation.
