Superstar Rajinikanth has said that said that he would announce his decision on taking a political plunge on 31 December, Times of India has reported.
Addressing his fans at the start of a six-day outreach programme in Chennai, he said he is not new to politics. The superstar reminded the fans of his appeal to vote out Jayalalithaa and support the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in 1996.
“I am not saying that I will come to politics... I will announce my stand on entering politics on December 31,” the Tamil actor said.
“I’m not sure whether who is more curious about my political entry, the people or the media. I’m not new to politics. I entered in 1996 itself,” Rajinikanth added.
He went on to say, “I know the difficulties in politics. Had I not known them, I would have taken the plunge long before. If you go to war, you should win. Not just strength, you also need a strategy to win the war. I will tell you all my decision on my political entry on December 31”.
Actor Kamal Hasan has also given an indication of taking a political plunge. The two actors had shared the stage at a DMK event in August.
Last week, Rajinikanth met Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for the R K Nagar seat left vacant after the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
