With just ten days left for Reliance Industries annual general meeting, the company is highly expected to launch its broadband service- Jio GigaFiber. The broadband service was announced by Reliance Jio in last year AGM, and since then has been in testing stage under its ‘Preview offer’.
According to a report from Business Today, the company is expected to launch three new data pricings and products during the AGM on 12 August. Merrill Lynch from the Bank of America believes that the broadband service will not be launched with huge discounts, but rather will be clubbed with value-added offerings.
Jio aims to reach around 50 million GigaFiber subscribers in the next five years Lynch said while adding that the service will be launched with a minimum of three data packs, prices beginning from Rs 500 per month.
It needs to be noted that all plans of Reliance Jio GigaFiber are expected to come along with complimentary landline connection. The first plan is the basic 100 Mbps connection, under which Jio offers GigaFiber with a minimum speed of 100 Mbps.
The second plan is the ‘Basic Connection + Giga TV’, under which subscribers can avail additional access to Giga TV service via a set-up box (STB) along with the broadband service. Since Giga TV is an IPTV, customers will need to stream the TV channels via the internet.
The third plan is the ‘Basic Connection + Giga TV + IoT, which is expected to be priced at over Rs 1,000 per month. The offer includes an IoT controller for smart appliances along with GigaFiber broadband and Giga TV subscription.
