BJP’s East Delhi Candidate and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir while campaigning (@GautamGambhir/Twitter)Cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir and Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia are the richest among the candidates who are in the fray in the sixth phase of polling of the Lok Sabha elections, reports Zee News.
The National Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) in its report says Scindia, with total assets worth over Rs 374 crores, is right on top of the list. Scindia, who is also in-charge of the Congress party in western Uttar Pradesh, declared movable assets of Rs 45,58,00,245 and immovable assets of Rs 3,28,98,18,500. Scindia is seeking to return to the parliament from Guna constituency.
Coming in second on the list, BJP’s Gambhir has assets over Rs 147 crore. Gambhir has declared Rs 1,19,15,87,789 worth of movable assets and Rs 28,00,00,000 of immovable assets. The former national-level cricketer also has the highest liabilities of over Rs 34 crore and highest annual income of over Rs 12 crore for financial year 2017-18 as declared in the Income Tax Returns(ITR). Gambhir is contesting from East Delhi seat.
The sixth phase of polling for LS elections will happen on May 12.
