After praising Prime Minister over his visit to the vaccine centres, Congress leader Anand Sharma said it was an error. He later clarified much to the satisfaction of his party.
"Regretting the error in our earlier tweet where the lines got misplaced, resulting in some avoidable confusion. The original tweet reads as follows."
Sharma had hailed PM Narendra Modi's recent visit to the three COVID-19 vaccine makers in Pune, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, reports Times of India.
While the Congress party through its spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala had slammed PM Modi's visit to Serum Institute of India (SII), Zydus Cadila's Health Park and Bharat Biotech campus, Sharma, who is also the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha has said that the visit will boost the spirit of health workers and the country.
Sharma also said that PM Modi's visit was a recognition of the nation's scientists and their work to produce the vaccine. He added, "That will lift the morale of frontline workers." Sharma also said, "Also respecting the institutions that India has built over decades that have the expertise and potential making India world's largest vaccine manufacturer."
Sharma's exhortation of PM Modi's visit to the three vaccine makers comes as a major embarrassment for Congress party and its spokesperson Surjewala which had tried to sell the visits as a photo-op.
