In a bid to develop Fifth Generation (5G) technology use cases and showcase 5G networks’ capabilities, state-run BSNL has tied up with US tech giant Cisco reports The Financial Express.

CISCO signed agreements with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and NITI Aayog to boost collaboration and connectivity across 100 Atal incubations centres and to build 5G technology based-use cases.

Both will cooperate in exploring the possibilities of 5G technology in areas like education, healthcare and agriculture. For this they plan to employ the internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and surveillance.

CISCO will also team up with NITI Aayog in installing video conferencing platforms Webex Teams and Cisco Webex Board to ensure seamless connectivity and collaboration across all Atal Incubation Centers.

Atal Innovation Mission is government of India’s flagship mission to bolster innovation in India and promote a culture of entrepreneurship creating an umbrella of innovation ecosystem in the country.

The announcement came after CISCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chuck Robbins also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (13 September) during his three-day visit to India.

“Had a wonderful meeting with Mr Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco. We discussed various aspects relating to technology as well as innovation.” Prime Minister tweeted after meeting the CISCO CEO.
