State governments and many private hospitals are in discussion with Dr Reddy's Laboratories to finalize SputnikV doses' procurement, according to a report published in Times of India.

Dr Reddy's Laboratories received the first consignment of 15 lakh doses of Russia's Sputnik V on 1 May and is expected to get the same amount by this months end. DRL is the marketing firm for the imported Sputnik vaccines in the country.

India will import 1.8 crore doses of Sputnik V, 30 lakh in May, 50 lakh in June and one crore in July.

The first delivery of Sputnik V is likely to start reaching private hospitals by the end of May.

Amid the surge of Covid-19, vaccine production in India is growing at pace.

The World's largest vaccine manufacturer Serum Institute of India (SII), will increase the monthly production of Covishield to 10 crore doses next month.

Bharat Biotech producer of Covaxin is set to increase the production to 6 crore doses by August, from one crore as of now.
