Sripeetam seer Swami Paripoornananda is back in Hyderabad. He was given a rousing welcome by thousands of workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), VHP, RSS and Bajrang Dal, all along the Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway on Tuesday (4 September), The Times of India reported.
BJP, VHP, RSS and Bajrang Dal workers raised slogans of Jai Sri Ram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai. The rousing welcome prompted him to say that he had left the city alone but was delighted to have returned with so many people.
Paripoornananda waved to the crowds from an SUV and said that “he is ready to die for dharma” and asked Hindus to unite.
Paripoornananda was externed from Hyderabad for six months, on allegations that he made incendiary statements in public. The action came two days after the exile of film critic Kathi Mahesh from the city for alleged sacrilegious comments against Hindu Gods.
On his exit from Hyderabad, Paripoornananda added that instead of "externing goons and anti-nationals, the cops externed him. “This kind of a situation doesn't exist even in Pakistan,” he said. The seer described the ruling Telangana government as “anti-Hindu”.
“The interim order suspending the police’s order by the Court came on 14 August,” reported The Hindu.
In the view of politics in Telangana, some believe that BJP and RSS could pick Paripoornananda as their choice for the state.
Zee News reported that the Sangh Parivar, which is trying to firm its feet in Telangana was in search for a “Yogi Adityanath like leader” in the state and region, and that they could launch him soon. The same report mentions Swami's popularity among Hindus and tribals.
