On Monday, a 21-year-old student named Nikita Tomar was shot dead outside her college in Haryana’s Ballabhgarh by the accused Tauseef Ahmed and his friend Rehan. Ahmed was apparently miffed as the girl refused his advances to develop an acquaintance.
A family member of 21-year-old girl had alleged that the main accused Tauseef was pressurising her to become a Muslim and wanted to marry her.
Dainik Jagran has reported that the main accused was highly influenced and impressed by the recently released second season of Amazon’s popular web-series, ‘Mirazpur’. In the show, the character Munna Tripathi (Divyendu Sharma) is shown to love Sweety Gupta (Shriya Pilgaonkar). However, Sweety ends up marrying Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) instead and is eventually gunned down by Munna arguably out of jealousy and disgust.
During the course of the investigation, Tauseef has revealed that he was unable to comprehend what to do next as Nikita denied complying with him. He reportedly decided that either the girl will stay with him or he will kill her. Tauseef’s maternal uncle, Islamuddin, had supposedly provided him a country pistol through which he carried out this murder.
Islamuddin is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence in Bhoondasi jail for having kidnapped a police inspector in 2018. Interestingly, the primary characters in Mirzapur (Tripathi family) operate an illegal business of country pistols too. On October 29, both Tauseef and Rehan were sent on a 14-day judicial custody as a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has begun probing the case.
Touseef, reportedly, was Nikita's classmate in class XII. The family has alleged that he was coercing the victim for conversion to Islam and into marrying her.
The preliminary probe in the murder of the 21-year-old college student in Faridabad has revealed she had refused "Tauseef’s overtures to convert to Islam and to marry him".
Touseef has political connections. He hails from Mewat. He is related to Congress MLA from Nuh, Aftab Alam.
The family has made accusations that Touseef wanted to kidnap her with help from his friend. Failing to kidnap her, he shot her dead.
The family has said that it was one-sided 'love' that led him to stalk and harass her even after compromising after abducting her once.
She was reportedly preparing for the entrance exam for NDA. Her brother has said that she wanted to serve in the armed forces and wanted to serve the country.
Her family members have said that she had scored 95 per cent in board examinations for XII and was among the toppers.
