At least six terrorists attacked an army camp in Baramulla district of Kashmir on Sunday night, killing one jawan and wounding another. As per media reports, firing started in the area at 10.30 PM. Grenades were lobbed by terrorists at the camp as they tried to enter through a public park nearby . Two terrorists involved in the attack were killed by the forces, claimed unconfirmed media reports.
The attack targeted 46 Rashtriya Rifles camp in Janbazpora on the outskirts of Baramulla city, located around 54 km west of capital Srinagar.
While the attack was underway in Baramulla, the Pakistan army shelled Indian posts in the Akhnoor sector to deliberately create confusion and distract attention. While it is too early to decide, the attack could be seen as the rouge state’s response to India’s surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC).
