Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an interview with Times Now lashed out against the Congress party for concocting the ‘Hindu Terror’ narrative and questioned the media’s double standards when it comes to Sadhvi Pragya’s candidature.
He said that Sadhvi Pragya getting a ticket is a symbol against the Congress party for equating a 5000 year old civilisation with terrorism.
When questioned over the BJP’s reasoning behind Sadhvi Pragya’s candidature, Prime Minister Modi shot back asking why did the “neutral media” never questioned Rajiv Gandhi for being made the prime minister despite the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Equating the anti-Sikh riots with terrorism, Modi recounted that those accused of being involved in the riots were made member of parliaments, cabinet ministers and one was recently made the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Modi thus asked why questions were never raised over their political elevation.
He then aimed at Rahul and Sonia Gandhi to ask why questions similar to the ones being raised against Sadhvi Pragya are not being raised against out on bail MPs from Amethi and Rae Bareli.
Further, Modi mentioned the custodial torture meted out to Sadhvi Pragya during her incarceration and asked why no voices were raised against it.
He also laid out the modus operandi of the Congress party wherein it creates a narrative by writing a script and then inserting various characters.
This Modi claimed was evident during his time as the Gujarat Chief Minister when encounters were dubbed as fake, and also in cases of Justice Loya, EVMs and demonetisation.
Coming back to Sadhvi Pragya, Modi attacked the Congress for equating Hinduism, a 5,000 year old civilisation which professes philosophies like Vasudaiva Kutumbakam with terrorism without having any evidence to prove the same.
He thus said that the candidature of Sadhvi Pragya was a symbol against this act of the Congress and will come as a huge cost to Rahul Gandhi’s party.
