Those who live in and around Vijayawada will soon be able to fly directly to Singapore. Energy and Infrastructure secretary Ajay Jain on Friday said that to fulfil the vision of a world class aviation infrastructure with connectivity to all destinations in Andhra Pradesh, the infrastructure department has introduced the new flight service, reports Deccan Chronicle.
Jain, who is camping at Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, to oversee relief and rehabilitation work in areas affected by Cyclone Titli, said that direct flights from Vijayawada to Singapore would come into operation from 25 October.
The service would be available from Vijayawada to Singapore and vice-versa two days a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
He appealed to international commuters from Vijayawada to avail of this service and enhance the economic hub of the state.
Indigo Airlines will start the first flight for which the AP government is offering a Viability Gap Fund of Rs 18 crore.
