In the latest development, the District Magistrate of Tripura (West) Sailesh Kumar Yadav has been suspended by the state government, reports India Today.
He had earlier made headlines following shocking visuals from a wedding raid where he was seen abusing his power, threatening people with arrest, and also allegedly thrashing a Hindu priest.
He was also caught on camera making statements like, "Arrest these guys, you people have wilfully violated government order...I am bloody your district magistrate...tum log saale, bloody you are all hand in gloves with these people, count and tell me this is my command as a district magistrate".

Chief Minister Biplab Deb had ordered an inquiry into the incident and sought a report from the chief secretary. A committee of two IAS officers was formed for the same.
Earlier this week, DM Sailesh Kumar Yadav appeared before the committee to explain his actions.
"It is my duty to enforce law and order and to prevent the spread of Covid-19. I stand by whatever I did that night," Yadav had told the committee.
Notably, calls were growing for action against the DM with five BJP MLAs too joining the chorus for the same.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
