Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath led state cabinet on Tuesday (7 January) approved the construction of a massive zoological park in Gorakhpur at a cost of Rs 234 crore, reports Asian News International (ANI).
The zoological park has been named after freedom fighter Ashfaqullah Khan as Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan Zoological Garden and it would be spread over an area of 121.34 acres. Its construction is aimed at boosting the tourism potential of the City and to garner international recognition for it.
As per a press note released by the UP government, the increase in tourist traffic in the city after the completion of the zoological park's construction will lead to the creation of more employment opportunities in the region.
Apart from this, the state Cabinet gave several other approvals which include the establishment of a 200-bed hostel for the students of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, and approval of recommendations made by state pay committee 2016 with respect to the permanent monthly allowance (fixed travel allowance).
