The 3D sci-fi thriller 2.0 starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar had a great head-start in the opening weekend with a box office collection of Rs 400 crore. Surprisingly, the Hindi version has grossed better than the Tamil version, as claimed by reports.

The Hindi version collected a net of Rs 95 crore from North India, and the Telugu version has grossed Rs 52 crore. The figures are not clear in the Tamil Nadu market as the theatres and distributors are keeping mum.
The film has collected $3,588,450 at the US box-office and has become the highest grossing South Indian film of 2018. Bahubali beginning and conclusion, kabali and 2.0 are the only South Indian films which have collected over $3 million in the opening weekend in the US.
If we exclude the 3D charge from the ticket price, the total four days gross in Chennai is Rs 8.94 crore. And if you include the 3D glass charge, the total gross in the city is 10.09 crore.
Excluding the 3D glass charges, the film made Rs 8.94 crore in first four days in Chennai. As per industry experts, the movie would have grossed Rs 55-60 crores in Tamil Nadu.
