A pastor in United States’ Virginia who had refused to shut down his Church prayers during the coronavirus pandemic has died due to a Covid-19 infection, New York Post has reported.
The pastor Bishop Gerald O during a sermon on 22 March had defiantly proclaimed at the New Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Richmond that he will keep the church open unless he is in jail or the hospital.
“I am essential...I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that...I am a preacher, I talk to God”, the pastor was quoted as saying.
He was subsequently diagnosed with Covid-19 and his church announced his demise on Sunday (12 April). He is said to have neglected the symptoms for a few days which led to a delay in his treatment. His wife is now suffering from coronavirus.
