The second Vande Bharat Express (Train 18) manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai is currently undergoing trials on the Delhi-Katra route where it is expected to be introduced for commercial operations in the near future.

One such trial run was successfully conducted on Monday (22 July) with the train leaving Delhi at 6 AM and reaching Katra at 2 PM in a journey lasting 8 hours. A video of the test run was shared by Railway official Ananth Rupanagudi.

In the video, the Vande Bharat express painted in its customary blue and white livery can be seen passing Karnal railway station as passengers eagerly looked on.

This train is considered as a boon for Vaishno Devi pilgrims whose travel till Katra, the closest railway station to the Hindu shrine, will become much easier.

The distance between Delhi and Katra is 655 KM and the Vande Bharat Express would stop at Ambala, Ludhiana and Jammu during either sides of its journey.
