In the Mumbai Pride Solidarity Gathering 2020 organised by Queer Azadi Movement (QAM), a group of students started raising radical slogans and chanted ‘ Sharjeel Tere Sapno Ko Manjil Tak Pahuchayenge’ (We will fulfill your dreams, Sharjeel).
In the video that has gone viral, a group of people can be heard chanting radical slogans while also raising ‘Jai Bheem’ flags.

I have zero sympathy for these pride flag holder. They are anti-nationals. They are sloganeering to fulfill the breaking-India dreams of radical Sharjeel Imam.
Anyone who stands with these intellectual terr@rits is a shame. pic.twitter.com/xAv8WaZhAN
However, soon after the clip went viral, several people who were part of the parade said that this incident was not planned or given attention by the majority present at the event. They also added that the slogan-raising group tried to capture the movement for their benefit.
Even, the organisers of the event, QAM, issued a press release in which they dissociated themselves from the incident. They also said that the group strongly condemns the abrupt radical slogans in support of Sharjeel and/or any other slogans against the integrity of India at the gathering.
This is the full statement from the organisers of #MumbaiPride2020. The miscreants were from the TISS & Thane queer collectives & when the MC couldâve asked them to shut up or ask the other organisers to remove the miscreants he just stayed silent https://t.co/1VXm2AZdwf pic.twitter.com/toJ10SGGJA
