Gautam claimed that the Jinnah portrait is currently being kept inside a locked room in the University.
Recently a huge row had erupted when Gautam had objected to the presence of Jinnah portrait inside the AMU, following which the university had defended this action.
The university claimed that the Muslim League leader was one of the founder members of the university and was conferred with life membership of student union. The portrait has been on the walls of student union hall since 1938, university authorities said.
Student Union President Maksoor Ahmad Usmani also defended the portrait, saying “the government has been a failure and they have not been able to do anything. So by raking it they are trying to make an issue of it”.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
