India's daily production of PPE kits has surged to over five lakh units a day, with the total number of manufacturers soaring to 110, reports Hindustan Times.
Sharing the positive development, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan elaborated, "States who used to complain about not getting an adequate number of PPEs, now say they do not have a place to keep them when we talk about sending PPE."
Dr Vardhan also shared that the nation has conducted around seven crore COVID-19 tests so far, and the recovery rate continues to improve. He emphasised that the national recovery rate has now soared to about 82 per cent, while the fatality rate has fallen to 1.6 per cent.
Dr Vardhan said, "We started with one lab when the COVID-19 crisis started but today we have 1823 labs. We have crossed 7 crore tests and are doing tests around 13-15 lakhs per day during the past few days. Vaccines in India are in the initial phases of the trial."
Dr Vardhan shared the developments while speaking at the 79th foundation day of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
