With 19,459 New Cases, India's Covid-19 Tally Rises To 5.48 Lakh; Death Toll Surges To 16,475

With the highest single-day spike of 19,459 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 548,318, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Monday (29 June).
According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 210,120 are active cases while at least 321,723 people have been cured of the disease.
The number of Covid-19 death toll in the country has increased from Wednesday's 16,095 to 16,475, an increase of 380 in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 164,626 cases, including 7,429 fatalities, and 86,575 recoveries. The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 83,000-mark with as many as 83,077 cases recorded so far, second-highest tally in the country. Tamil Nadu followed with 82,275 cases. Gujarat has reported 31,320 cases so far.
States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (2,623), Gujarat (1,808), Tamil Nadu (1,079), Uttar Pradesh (660), West Bengal (639), and Madhya Pradesh (557).
States with more than 10,000 cases are Uttar Pradesh (22,147), West Bengal (17,283), Rajasthan (17,271), Telangana (14,419), Haryana (13,829), Andhra Pradesh (13,241), Karnataka (13,190), and Madhya Pradesh (13,186).
Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Bihar (9,212), Jammu and Kashmir (7,093), Assam (7,206), Odisha (6,614), Punjab (5,216), Kerala (4,189), Uttarakhand (2,823), Chhattisgarh (2,662) and Jharkhand (2,364).
According to the Health Ministry, 7,285 cases are being re-assigned to states.
