With 88.13 Lakh COVID Vaccine Doses Administered In Last 24 Hours, India Achieves Highest-Ever Single Day Vaccination

India has administered more than 88.13 lakh COVID-19 doses in last 24 hours, the highest ever vaccination achieved in a single day since the start of the country's vaccination drive in January this year.

Further, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage also achieved 55 crore milestone on Monday (16 August).

Cumulatively, 55,47,30,609 vaccine doses have been administered through 62,12,108 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today (17 August), the Health Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, 88.09 lakh Covid vaccine doses were administered across the country on 21 June.

According to the Health Ministry, of the total vaccine doses, over 21 crore jabs (including 20.2 crore first dose and 1.61 crore second dose) have been administered to people in the age-group 18-44 years.

Meanwhile, over 16.4 crore doses have been administered in the age-group 45-60 years and more than 12.2 crore jabs have been received by those above 60 years of age.

In another statement, the ministry informed that more than 56.81 crore (56,81,32,750) vaccine doses have been provided to states and UTs so far, through all sources and a further 1,09,32,960 doses are in the pipeline.

"Of this, the total consumption including wastages is 55,11,51,992 doses (as per data available at 8 am today (17 August))," the ministry said.
