Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief, Arvind Kejriwal has responded to the charges of supporting separatist elements in Punjab. The AAP chief came under attack from political parties across the board after poet Kumar Vishwas, a former leader and one of the founding members of AAP, had cited a conversation he claimed to have had with Kejriwal, to say, “One day, he (Arvind Kejriwal) told me he would either become CM (of Punjab) or first PM of an independent nation (Khalistan)... he wants power at any cost.”
Following the comment by the former AAP leader, Kejriwal came under sharp attack from leaders of all political parties including Rahul Gandhi, PM Narendra Modi, Sukhbir Badal, and Charanjit Singh Channi. Election Commission had initially held back media and political parties from publishing/circulating/broadcasting Kumar Vishwas’ video. However, later, the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab, Dr S Karuna Raju reversed the restraining order saying, “This letter was inadvertently issued”.
Today, Arvind Kejriwal launched a counter-attack and termed the accusations of supporting separatism as “comedy”. Naming Rahul Gandhi, PM Narendra Modi, Priyanka Gandhi, Sukhbir Badal, Charanjit Channi, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Captain Amarinder Singh, he accused the entire opposition of speaking in the same language and ganging up on him.
Referring to himself as “world’s sweetest terrorist” who talks about schools, hospitals, electricity, and sends senior citizens on pilgrimage, Kejriwal challenged PM Modi to arrest him if his government considered him to be terrorist. Further, Kejriwal evoked Bhagat Singh saying that the freedom fighter was once branded as a terrorist and today his follower (Kejriwal) is being subjected to the same ordeal.
Mocking the charges, the Delhi Chief Minister questioned the central intelligence agencies of not being able to detect such a “dangerous terrorist” for last seven to ten years even after being in the same city and after being raided by Delhi Police, Income Tax Department, ED (Enforcement Directorate), and other agencies. He also “thanked” poet Kumar Vishwas for doing the job.
Hailing the CM candidate of AAP, Bhagwant Mann as an honest person, Kejriwal said the entire opposition was ganging up on AAP to stop Mann from becoming the chief minister of Punjab.
