Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (4 March) slammed the opposition for labeling the Indian air strikes on terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed’s (JeM) Balakot camp as an electoral gimmick, reports Times of India.

Prime Minister is on a two-day visit to Gujarat and was addressing a gathering at a Civil Hospital campus in Ahmedabad. He opened the ‘Medicity’, a 1,200-bed extension costing Rs 1,450 crore to the Asia’s largest public hospital here.

“They are saying airstrike was for electoral gains. Were there elections when we carried out surgical strikes? Humara siddhant hai, hum ghar me ghus ke marenge (It is our principle to take the attack home),” Prime Minister Modi was quoted in the report as saying.

He also lambasted the erstwhile Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for not avenging the 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai and the 2008 serial blast in Ahmedabad. The serial blasts had reportedly killed 58 people, including 37 doctors and paramedical staff in the Civil Hospital campus itself.

“Do you remember the day when demons struck Civil Hospital? Had the then government been stronger, they would have taken revenge. Why did they not avenge 26/11 Mumbai attacks?” questioned Modi.

“Chun chun ke hisaab lena meri fitrat hai (It is my nature to settle every score),” said Modi.
