On Sunday (29 October), militants in downtown Srinagar shot and critically wounded a Jammu and Kashmir Police officer, according to officials.
According to officials, Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani was shot by militants while playing cricket with local boys at the Eidgah ground.
The injured officer was quickly taken to a hospital where doctors immediately began treating him. They stated that his condition was critical.
“Terrorists fired upon & injured Inspector Masroor Ahmad near Eidgah, Srinagar. He was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigation reveals that a pistol was used in this terror crime. Area cordoned off, case registered," the Kashmir Zone Police said in a post on X.
According to police sources, The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-backed terrorist organisation, has claimed responsibility for the attack, India Today reported.
