Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, held a review meeting in Pune on Sunday (21 September) regarding the issue of the Ramwadi to Waghole and Vitthalwadi Metro route overlapping with the MSIDC Elevated Road, and about the Metro Line Development Project in the city.

In the meeting, he called for seamless coordination among government agencies involved in Pune’s major infrastructure projects.

Maha Metro, NHAI, MSIDC, and other authorities are to ensure that construction activities do not overlap, thereby minimising disruption for residents.

Authorities have been asked to submit a detailed plan for elevated highways and Metro lines within a week, as per a Pune Pulse report.

Following that, a meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be held to finalise proposals, with local representatives also participating.

He also urged officials to prepare long-term civic plans for the next century, highlighting that investment in infrastructure yields enduring benefits.

Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar stated that NHAI and MSIDC have proposed flyovers along key highways such as Pune–Ahilyanagar, Pune–Nashik, and Pune–Solapur, while Metro plans extensions along some of these corridors.

To prevent overlap, a double-decker structure accommodating both flyovers and Metro lines is under consideration.

Detailed project reports for routes like Hadapsar–Uruli Kanchan via Loni Kalbhor have already been submitted to the state government, while the Hadapsar–Saswad line remains in the DPR stage. MSIDC has also planned flyovers along these stretches.

The meeting emphasised improving multi-agency coordination to reduce inconvenience to citizens.

Metro officials also presented plans for the 42 km Bhakti Shakti Chowk (Nigdi)–Chakan route, including proposed realignments between Nashik Phata and Chakan.
