The Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, originally slated for completion in June 2025, is now expected to be fully operational by September 2025, according to Nripendra Mishra, head of the temple’s construction committee.
Mishra provided this update after leading a two-day meeting of the committee in Ayodhya on Thursday and Friday. He explained that the construction timeline has been extended due to a shortage of approximately 200 stone carvers.
This has delayed work on key structures like the auditorium, boundary walls, and the circumambulation path. Mishra also highlighted that around 8.5 lakh cubic feet of red Bansi Paharpur stone would be required for the temple’s outer walls.
"The stones have arrived in Ayodhya but there is a shortage of carvers," he added. Additionally, some stones on the first floor were found to have low density and will be replaced with Makrana marble. "The work on first floor along with other portions is on," he said.
Mishra shared that the statues for various areas of the temple complex, including the Ram Darbar and statues for seven inner temples and six outer wall temples, are being crafted in Jaipur and should be ready by December.
"The statues will arrive in Ayodhya by the end of December. A decision will then be made on their placement. Two statues of Ram Lalla, already accepted by the Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Sthal Trust, will also be installed at pre-decided locations," he said.
There was a renewed discussion about making the Ram temple exit route more accessible. However, no decision has been taken in this regard.
