Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday (16 October) sharply criticised the RJD and Congress, accusing them and their allies of turning Bihar elections into a game of development versus burqa, reported The Times Of India.

Speaking at a gathering in Danapur during the filing of nomination papers by BJP candidate and former Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav, Yogi Adityanath alleged that opposition parties seek votes from “ghuspaithiyas” (infiltrators) at the expense of genuine citizens’ rights.

He questioned the opposition’s stance on identity verification, asking, “If you have to show your identity and face when travelling anywhere in the world, what's the problem with voting?"

Yogi asserted that while citizens of Bihar wish to focus on development, the opposition indulges in debates over the burqa.

“The leaders of these parties are in favour of fake polling, which is a major challenge to democracy. When the youth of Bihar want to move forward with development on the basis of their talent, RJD and Congress want infiltrators to vote under the guise of the burqa. This would be a robbery of the rights of the people of Bihar, which will never be allowed to happen,” he said.

Highlighting the NDA government’s achievements, Yogi Adityanath said that only the NDA government could control corruption.

He noted that mafias in Uttar Pradesh had been dealt with firmly and that notorious criminals who once spread anarchy were now facing consequences.

He added that the Modi government was providing housing to the poor, a step he said Congress could have taken as well but did not.
