The Election Commission has completed the first phase of Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, stating that around 92 per cent of the state's 7.89 crore voters will be included in the draft rolls due on 1 August, reported The Indian Express.

Of the 7.89 crore registered voters, roughly 8 per cent of voters—around 65 lakh names—are expected to be dropped from Bihar’s draft electoral rolls after they were found to be either deceased, registered in more than one place, permanently migrated to another place, or untraceable.

The EC revealed that 7.23 crore electors have submitted enumeration forms. Their

According to EC, local BLOs and BLAs have found names of 22 lakh deceased electors, 7 lakh electors registered in more than one location, and around 35 lakh electors have either permanently migrated or could not be traced.

“Forms of 7.23 crore electors have been received and digitised; the names of all these electors will be included in the draft electoral roll,” the EC said.

Further, the poll panel said that the enumeration forms of approximately 1.2 lakh electors are yet to be received.

The EC added that the lists of those electors who have not filled the forms or are deceased and those who have permanently migrated have already been shared on 20 July with all the 12 national and state political parties, so that any errors can be rectified in the Draft Electoral Roll to be published on 1 August.

The poll panel further said that from 1 August to 1 September, any elector or political party may fill the prescribed forms and submit claims to the ERO for any eligible elector who is left-out or file objections for removal of any ineligible elector.
