Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the Narendra Modi government's commitment to uproot Naxalism and the idea of Naxalism after meeting the victims of Naxal violence in Chhattisgarh on Friday (20 September).
He claimed that Naxalism is finished in the entire country and is now limited to only four districts of Bastar. Het set a deadline of 31 March 2026 to 'bid farewell' to Naxalism from the country.
Shah appealed to the Naxalists to surrender before the law citing examples from North-East and Kashmir, where many people have given up their weapons and joined the mainstream.
"You are also welcome to join the mainstream but if this does not happen then we will start an all-out campaign against Naxalism and will also get success in it," Shah said assuring the safety of common people.
He stated, "It is the responsibility of the Home Ministry to ensure the rule of law across the nation. Naxalism is in no way compatible with internal security. PM Modi has made it clear that we are committed to eradicating Naxalism."
While addressing victims of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) violence, he said, "Your suffering will bring awareness to many in Delhi's power corridors, who choose to remain indifferent to your plight."
"They focus on the human rights of those who carry weapons, but ignore the children who have been orphaned and the people who have been maimed as a result of this violence," he added.
He also announced that the Union Cabinet has approved a proposal from the Chhattisgarh government for the PM Awas Yojana, sanitation facilities, and electrification of homes.
Additionally, a new rehabilitation policy for LWE victims is set to be introduced within the next three months.
