Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai, today (14 June) shared a video of Chief Minister MK Stalin speaking about corruption by Minister Senthil Balaji in 2016, while he was part of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government.

Annamalai said, 'A gentle reminder to Thiru @mkstalin on what he spoke a few years back about the #CashForJobScam tainted Thiru Senthil Balaji. Are you going to refute this, Thiru @mkstalin? Why are you playing victim card today?'

In the video, Stalin can be heard saying, "There is a minister from this Karur district: Senthil Balaji. There is no need to say anything about him. He is such a prominent minister that he remained in the Cabinet even after it has got reshuffled for 15 times. He, even though a junior minister has been able to retain his position while senior ministers have lost their positions. When Jayalalithaa was in jail, his name was among the CM probables list.

"Today not only Senthil Balaji but his brother is also controlling Karur district. He is controlling the district by corruption, collection and looting. These are known by the people of Kulithalai. Abduction, land grabbing cases are pending against him in the courts.

"Similarly, they bought ticket vending machines for buses. It was I who revealed with proof in the Assembly that there was corruption in procuring these machines. There is no official refutation till now.

"An engineering student named Gokul was abducted, threatened that he would be murdered and his properties were grabbed. His family went to the court. That issue is in the court of law. We don’t even know the whereabouts of Gokul now.

"Karur is the district which makes the highest payment to Arasu cable. That’s because the local channels here operate as benamis of Senthil Balaji. When he was the Transport minister, people were defrauded of lakhs, 3 lakhs for conductor, 6 lakhs for mechanics in cash for jobs scam. 48 victims have complained on this. A person involved in abduction has been given ticket in another constituency...."
