On the second day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos (21 January), Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu addressed a special session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on green industrialisation.

Drawing on his transformative leadership journey, Naidu showcased his vision for India’s role in global sustainability and innovation.

Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, Naidu praised the entrepreneurial spirit of Indians, particularly from Andhra Pradesh, contributing to the global economy.

Quoting Bloomberg projections, he predicted that from 2028, “it will be the Indian era.” Applauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he envisioned India becoming a top-two global economy by 2047, achieving “Viksit Bharat 2047.”

Naidu emphasised leveraging AI and real-time data for problem-solving and improving daily life. He announced plans for the Global Leadership Centre (GLC) in Amaravati, which aims to groom future leaders.

A letter of intent was exchanged with Switzerland’s IMD Business School to enhance global competitiveness and leadership.

Focusing on sustainability, Naidu underscored the importance of natural and organic farming, terming it a “boon for the global community.” Advocating for the inclusion of people in governance through his “P4 model”—public-private-people partnership—he urged corporate leaders to take responsibility for eradicating poverty and inequality.

Naidu outlined his ambitious plans to make Andhra Pradesh a global green energy hub. With a $115 billion investment in renewable energy, the state aims to produce 500 MW of renewable power and 500 million metric tons of green hydrogen by 2030, contributing 30 per cent to India’s national target.

Notable collaborations include a $21 billion green hydrogen project and Reliance’s Rs 65,000 crore biofuel initiative.

Reflecting on his tenure, Naidu recounted introducing power reforms during India’s 1999 energy crisis, decisions that initially cost him an election but laid the foundation for today’s advancements in solar and wind energy.

Naidu’s speech reflects his mission-mode approach to make Andhra Pradesh a global leader in green hydrogen and energy exports, setting benchmarks in innovation and environmental balance.
