Congress-Ruled Himachal Follows UP's Lead, Orders Eateries To Display Owner's Name

The Congress-ruled Himachal government has introduced a mandate requiring eateries and food stalls across the state to display the owner's ID card, following a similar directive in Uttar Pradesh.

The decision was announced by Vikramaditya Singh, the state's Urban Development Minister and the son of six-time Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

Singh emphasised that this move aims to enhance transparency and convenience for customers.

A day after the decision was taken at a meeting held at his office, he posted on Facebook, “In Himachal Pradesh too, every eatery and fast food cart will have to display the owner’s ID so customers don’t face any sort of inconvenience. To this effect, an order has been passed in a meeting of the Urban Development and Municipal Corporation. Jai Shri Ram.”

The order comes a day after the Uttar Pradesh government made it mandatory for food outlets across the state to display the name and address of operators, proprietors and managers.

The Yogi government has also directed the installation of CCTVs in hotels and restaurants. Further, the eateries have been directed to ensure that the chefs and waiters wear masks and gloves.
