The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in partnership with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), has launched a Priority Frisking initiative at all metro stations to ensure faster and more dignified security clearance for special category passengers.
The facility will benefit divyangjans (persons with disabilities), pregnant women, women with infants, senior citizens, and individuals with injuries.
The aim is to provide a smooth, hassle-free travel experience, especially during peak hours when security queues can become a challenge.
As part of the initiative, these passengers will be given preferential access through security checkpoints, with specially designated frisking lanes or immediate assistance by CISF personnel.
"DMRC is working in close coordination with CISF and security personnel to implement the priority frisking initiative and issue necessary guidelines to ensure a seamless experience for special category passengers," the Delhi Metro authority said in a statement.
In case of any doubt or dispute regarding eligibility for this facility, security personnel may request passengers to provide relevant document to verify their status, the DMRC said.
DMRC said that it has always prioritised accessibility for divyangjans and senior citizens by providing end-to-end services across the metro system, including reserved seating.
All DMRC premises are commuter-friendly, with facilities such as tactile paths, wheelchairs, and other support systems to ensure a seamless travel experience, the DMRC said.
"With this step also, DMRC continues to set an example for public transportation systems across the country by reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility," the statement added.
