Early Trends: BJP Poised To Win Large In Arunachal Pradesh While In Sikkim, SKM Is Leading On 31 Out Of 32 Seats

The results for the assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim is being announced today.

As per the early trends till now, Sikkim's ruling SKM is running ahead in 31 of 32 seats while BJP seems to be wining 44 of Arunachal Pradesh's 60 seats.

In the rest of the seats in Arunachal Pradesh, the NPP is ahead on nine seats and the Congress is ahead in one seat.

The BJP is expected to retain power in Arunachal Pradesh, while the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is poised for a second term in Sikkim.

Voting took place on 19 April for 60 assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh and 32 in Sikkim.

In Arunachal Pradesh, results will be declared today for 50 seats, with Chief Minister Pema Khandu seeking a third term.

The ruling BJP has already secured 10 assembly seats unopposed. The BJP fielded candidates for all 60 seats in the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, while the Congress contested 34 seats.

The Sikkim Assembly comprises 32 seats, with a party or coalition needing at least 17 seats to form the government. Chief Minister PS Tamang has expressed confidence that the people of Sikkim will grant his party another term.

In 2019, the SKM ended the 25-year rule of the SDF by winning 17 seats, compared to 15 for Pawan Chamling's party.
