Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm, xAI, has launched Grokipedia, an AI-driven online knowledge platform positioned as a replacement for Wikipedia, reported The Hindu.

As of Tuesday (28 October, 2025), Grokipedia hosted about 8,85,279 articles, with Musk announcing that more updates and improvements are on the way. The site’s design closely mirrors Wikipedia’s layout, allowing users to search topics, explore subjects, navigate sections, and review cited information.

However, Grokipedia currently lacks several key features, including licensed images, multimedia content, infographics, hyperlinks to related topics, and foreign-language versions.

Many right-wing and conservative users in the United States have praised Grokipedia’s handling of politically sensitive issues, urging followers to switch from Wikipedia to the new platform.

In contrast, tech outlet The Verge reported that numerous Grokipedia entries appear to contain content directly scraped or copied from Wikipedia pages.

Musk described Grokipedia’s mission on X, stating, “The goal of Grok and http://Grokipedia.com is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We will never be perfect, but we shall nonetheless strive towards that goal.”

He further emphasised that the platform is open source, free to use, and accessible to everyone. Musk added that users will soon be able to request additions, modifications, or deletions of articles, and Grok will either act or decline while explaining its reasoning.
