The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday (14 December) demolished the homes of three men accused of attacking a party worker, marking the first such bulldozer action after Mohan Yadav took charge as the new Chief Minister of the state.

On his first day as CM, Yadav on Wednesday (13 December) issued an order banning the unregulated use of loudspeakers/DJs at religious gatherings and public places.

He also announced an intensive campaign to control the unlawful trade of meat, fish, and other such items in open. On Thursday, around ten meat shops were demolished.

Police reports indicate that on 5 December, Devendra Singh Thakur, who serves as the mandal general secretary of the BJP jhuggi jhopri cell, was assaulted with a sword by a person named Farukh after an argument over the election results.

Thakur suffered severe injuries to his hand as he attempted to protect himself, according to the police.

After the incident, top BJP officials paid a visit to Thakur in the hospital and held protests, calling for severe punishment for the accused.

In addition to Farukh, four other persons identified as Aslam, Shahrukh, Bilal, and Sameer have been arrested by the police.

On Thursday, the residences of three men were demolished by bulldozers, as authorities alleged that the necessary permissions for the building plan were not obtained.

“We demolished the homes of the three men accused in the case after violations were found. The men got into a violent confrontation after they taunted each other over the election results. Farukh has a criminal record and charges under the NSA (National Security Act) have been slapped against him,” Manish Raj Singh Bhadoriya, the in-charge of Habibganj police station, was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
