Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday (14 August) highlighted the sweeping infrastructure transformation under his government, while taking a sharp swipe at the Samajwadi Party (SP), rebranding its PDA slogan as “Parivar Development Authority".

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly on a debate on the state’s Vision Document 2047, CM Yogi Adityanath said the Akhilesh Yadav-led party is unaware of the state’s progress and concerned only with promoting its own family.

"Samajwadi Party's parivar development authority is also an example of this, they only know how to remain limited to themselves. Swami Vivekananda had said about this in his stories," he said.

The world is moving ahead, but you only know how to remain confined to your families. And you want to do the same to Uttar Pradesh," he added, as reported by India TV.

Listing key projects, the Chief Minister said the state is building 22 expressways, including the Meerut-Prayagraj Ganga Expressway, which will be India’s largest once complete.

“India’s first Rapid Metro runs from Meerut to Delhi,” he said, adding that these projects are aimed at reducing travel times, boosting logistics connectivity, and attracting industrial investments.

The Ganga Expressway, spanning about 594 km, will cut the travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj to under 8 hours.

Other major projects include the Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, and Gorakhpur Link expressways, designed to improve connectivity across eastern and southern Uttar Pradesh.

Adityanath said infrastructure investments are closely linked to job creation and economic growth.

The state is also developing industrial corridors along expressways to draw manufacturing units, food-processing hubs, and logistics parks.

Tourism infrastructure, he said, is another priority, citing the ongoing upgrades in Mathura-Vrindavan, Ayodhya, and Kashi.

But the Samajwadi Party refuses to discuss this development, he added, recalling SP’s 2016 proposal to build a memorial for Duryodhan in Mathura.

"The Samajwadi Party will not discuss the development work in Mathura-Vrindavan because, in 2016, they had already said they would build a memorial for Duryodhan," the Chief Minister said.

The remarks came during a 24-hour Assembly discussion on Vision 2047, the long-term plan to transform Uttar Pradesh into a trillion-dollar economy by the time India marks 100 years of independence.

Adityanath also marked Partition Horrors Remembrance Day by criticising the Congress for what he called the “appeasement politics” that led to the 1947 Partition.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with instituting the memorial day in 2021 to remember the human tragedy and displacement.
