Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal on Sunday (31 March) addressed 'Loktantra Bachao' (save democracy) rally of INDI Alliance in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan.
This comes as Arvind Kejriwal has been in the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) custody since 21 March in Delhi liquor policy case.
Sunita said, "Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi ji has put my husband in jail. Was it right? Do you believe that Kejriwal ji is a true patriot and honest person? Should Kejriwal ji resign?"
Calling Kejriwal a lion, she announced six guarantees on behalf of INDI Alliance including making Delhi a full-fledged state, good hospitals and education.
The other promises are of 24X7 and free electricity and Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers as per Swaminathan Commission.
Hinting at a discord within INDI Alliance, Sunita said that Kejriwal apologises to allies for not discussing before making these announcements as he was unable to do so being in jail.
Sunita also claimed that Kejriwal has planned everything about financing these guarantees. She expressed hope on this behalf that other INDI Alliance parties will accept these guarantees.
Interestingly, wife of another jailed leader of INDI Alliance, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's (JMM) Hemant Soren, Kalpana Soren was also present in this rally.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj were also present on stage along with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Uddhav Thackeray and Akhilesh Yadav.
