Haryana Unveils Rs 4,827-Crore Regional Road Upgradation Project To Repair And Modernise 4,227 Roads In FY2025-26

The Haryana government has unveiled the Pradeshik Sadak Utthan Pariyojna (Regional Road Upgradation Project) to strengthen the state’s road network. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched the initiative on Sunday (21 September), calling it a “golden chapter” in Haryana’s infrastructure growth, The Tribune reported.

Under the plan, 4,227 roads spanning 9,410 km will be repaired and upgraded in 2025–26 at a cost of Rs 4,827 crore. Work has already begun on 410 roads.

Saini said the project would bridge rural–urban gaps, improve connectivity, and boost Haryana’s economic, social, and commercial development.

He stressed that public funds must be used responsibly and warned of strict action against negligent contractors or officials. “The project will lower transportation costs, reduce pollution, save fuel and give a boost to both industry and agriculture,” he said.

Highlighting past achievements, Saini noted that over the last 11 years, 43,703 km of roads were improved at a cost of Rs 28,651 crore, while 2,417 km of new roads were built for Rs 2,534 crore. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, 2,432 km of rural roads were laid at Rs 1,077 crore.

The CM also said 97 railway overbridges and underpasses, costing Rs 2,000 crore, had been constructed, and 21 new national highways were sanctioned for the state, with 12 completed so far.

Once all are operational, every district will have national highway connectivity. Additionally, 27 toll barriers have been removed to ease traffic.

Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa said the new project would cover roads maintained by the PWD, Marketing Board, HSVP, HSIIDC and other agencies.
