Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed all state governments to identify and deport Pakistani nationals within their states, ANI reported citing sources.

Shah on Friday (25 April) spoke with Chief Ministers and reportedly asked them to identify all Pakistani nationals in their respective states and take steps to ensure their prompt return to Pakistan.

This move follows India’s announcement on Wednesday to cancel all visas issued to Pakistani nationals in a diplomat offensive in response to terror attack in J&K's Pahalgam in which 26 people were killed.

The MEA said all Pakistani visas will stand revoked beginning 27 April.

The only exception is medical visas, which have been granted a grace period of 48 hours, which will be effectively revoked from 29 April.

India has reportedly said it has proof Pakistan was involved in the planning and execution of the attack.

On Thursday, senior foreign diplomats from the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, Russia, and China were shown this proof by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

Visa cancellation is only one among the five measures India has announced in its diplomatic response to the attack.

In addition, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT)—a major water-sharing agreement concerning the Indus River and its five tributaries: Beas, Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi, and Sutlej.

Further, India has expelled defence officials in Pakistani embassy in New Delhi, and closed the Attari-Wagah border.
