The Union Government has approved the establishment of a Rs 417 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant push towards enhancing domestic electronics production and innovation.

To be developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the cluster will span 200 acres and is projected to attract investments worth Rs 2,500 crore.

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who reviewed the project along with Minister of State Jitin Prasada, said, “The project will lead to the creation of world-class infrastructure and generate 15,000 jobs.

It is fully in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting manufacturing in India. It reflects the government’s sharp focus on job creation and building a Viksit Bharat.”

The EMC will provide a dedicated base for sectors such as consumer electronics, medical devices, automotive and industrial electronics, computing hardware, and communication equipment.

Emphasis will also be placed on enabling MSMEs and startups through ready-to-use plug-and-play infrastructure, alongside shared facilities including standard factory sheds, hostels, healthcare units, skill development centres, and utilities.

Officials have been directed to work closely with the state government to ensure swift project execution.

The cluster enjoys excellent connectivity, situated strategically along the Yamuna Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the upcoming Palwal–Khurja Expressway.

It is in proximity to the Jewar International Airport and key logistics nodes, further strengthening its appeal.

Positioned near other planned industrial parks, including the Medical Device Park and Aviation Hub, the cluster is set to emerge as a critical pillar in India’s manufacturing roadmap.

With Rs 30,000 crore already invested in the EMC scheme and over 86,000 jobs generated, the new facility reiterates India’s ambition to become a global electronics manufacturing destination.
