India is gearing up for a significant sporting event as a formidable 446-member contingent, including 303 athletes, is set to represent the nation at the upcoming fourth Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, scheduled from 22 to 28 October, as reported by NDTV Sports.
The Indian Sports Ministry has given its nod to a diverse group of 303 athletes, comprising 191 male and 112 female participants, spanning 17 sporting disciplines for the Asian Para Games.
Additionally, 143 coaches, escorts, officials, and support staff have been approved for the event.
Notably, out of the athlete count, a staggering 123 will exclusively compete in athletics events.
This is the most extensive contingent that India has ever sent to the Asian Para Games, signaling the country's commitment to fostering para-sports and the potential for success.
In the previous edition of the games held in Jakarta, India was represented by 190 athletes who competed in 13 sporting events, ultimately clinching an impressive total of 72 medals, including 15 golds.
With a larger and more diverse contingent this time, the nation is poised to make a significant mark on the Asian para-sports stage.
