In a major step towards digital transformation and transparency, the Indian Army launched a new blockchain-based Vendor Registration Application aimed at simplifying and securing the registration process for vendors supplying dry rations.
The app was jointly developed by the Army’s Directorate General of Supplies and Transport and BISAG-N, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The application was officially launched by Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Indian Army said in a statement.
Built using blockchain technology, the platform ensures tamper-proof, transparent, and efficient processing of vendor applications, in line with the Army’s "Year of Transformation" initiative.
The digital platform allows vendors to register online, track the status of their applications in real time, submit queries, and rectify errors simultaneously, all without paperwork or bureaucratic delays.
It also integrates with official databases like FSSAI, GST, Global Standards 1, and others through APIs to verify vendor credentials instantly and accurately.
The initiative aims to broaden vendor participation, including startups and small businesses, in the Army’s supply chain.
It is expected to reduce processing time by nearly 50 per cent and promote ease of doing business, while enhancing accountability and compliance.
The Army Purchase Organisation (APO), which handles dry ration procurement worth approximately Rs 14,000 crore annually, has fully transitioned to using the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal.
This new registration app is intended to support APO’s efforts to onboard reliable vendors and conclude contracts efficiently.
Emphasising the Army Service Corps' credo, “Seva Asmakam Dharma”, the Army said the app is not just a technological upgrade but a commitment to transparency, resilience, and operational readiness in logistics and procurement.
