Three days after the Pahalgam terror attack, the Pakistan Army reportedly fired from multiple posts along the Line of Control (LoC) during the night.
The Indian Army has retaliated to the Pakistan's unprovoked action. There were no casualties reported on the Indian side.
"The Pakistani Army fired small arms along the border. Our troops responded. Further details are being ascertained. There have been no casualties," an official was quoted as saying by India Today.
Earlier in February, the Pakistani Army opened fire using small arms on an Indian post along the LoC in Poonch district.
This latest firing follows the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists.
Both India and Pakistan remain on high alert. Islamabad has issued a no-fly zone over the Arabian Sea with a missile test expected today.
In a separate incident, a gunfight broke out between terrorists and security forces in Bandipora district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday. A terrorist on run was reportedly injured in the firefight while two security officers of a senior police official have also been injured.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation after receiving intelligence about terrorists hiding in the Bazipora forest area.
The operation escalated into a gunfight when the terrorists opened fire.
On Thursday, a Special Forces soldier was killed in action during a joint operation with security forces against terrorists in Udhampur district.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, security forces launched a large-scale manhunt. The operation aims to capture the five to six terrorists involved in the killings.
Authorities have released photos of three suspects — Asif Fuji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha — believed to be involved in the attack. A reward of Rs 20 lakh has been announced for anyone who provides credible information on their whereabouts.
